ORGANIZATION BYLAWS

Item 1: Name

The name of this organization shall be the RHAM Sports Boosters.

Item 2: Address

The address of this organization shall be P.O. Box 166, Hebron, CT 06248

Item 3: Status

The status of this organization shall be as an affirmation of RHAM High School and RHAM Middle School, and therefore, shall be non-profit, and shall be subject to the rules and regulations of the RHAM Administration, similar to other organizations affiliated with RHAM High School and RHAM Middle School.

Item 4: Purpose

The purpose of this organization shall be to:

  1. Assist in providing recognition to the students participating in RHAM Middle and High School athletic programs.

  2. Encourage student participation and overall student body enthusiasm in the RHAM athletic programs.

  3. Increase community awareness and enthusiasm for the athletic programs.

  4. Promote improvements to the athletics programs by focusing community attention on the needs of these programs.

  5. Provide mini grants to teams. Money donated towards the purchase of sporting goods. Funds should be requested by coaches and given at 50% of cost of items, up to $500 per team per year. That specific team will provide the other 50%. Money will not be given for clothing or personal items. Purchased sporting goods must stay with the school. Exceptions to the above recommendations will be handled on an individual basis. Money will be distributed at the discretion of the membership.

  6. RHAM Sports Boosters will not pay for practice facilities nor will it pay for the transportation of athletes to and from practice.

  7. Organize and conduct fundraising in order to provide financial assistance to the various athletic teams and clubs as needed.

  8. Provide scholarships to senior students in the amount of $500 per student. Students must write an essay and submit it to the Scholarship Committee for review. The Scholarship Committee must be composed of parents without a senior student.

Item 5: Officers/Duties

There shall be four officers of the organization, with the following titles: President, Vice President or Co-President, Secretary, and Treasurer.

The duties of the President shall be to preside over the meetings and to be responsible for the general welfare and events of the organization.

The duty of the Vice President or Co-President shall be to assist the President.

The duties of the Secretary shall be to maintain the records of the organization and to provide written communications as directed by the vote of membership.

The duties of the Treasurer shall be to receive and safeguard the monies of the organization, to disburse payment of those monies as directed by the membership, and to provide records of income and disbursement transactions.

Subcommittees may be formed as needed and may include, Public Relations, Website, Concessions, Fundraising, Membership, etc.

Item 6: Elections Terms of Office

Elections shall be held during the fourth quarter of the school year. A slate of candidates shall be presented to the organization at one meeting, with elections at the next meeting. Elections shall be by majority vote of those members present.

The term of office of elected officers shall be held for two (2) years. There shall be no limit on the number of terms an officer may hold office.

Item 7: Membership/Dues

Membership shall be open to the families and friends of the student athletes and the faculty of RHAM. The coaches, administration (the latter being the Superintendent and Principals) of RHAM shall be members-at-large of the organization.

Annual dues shall be assessed by the membership, with the fee to be set annually by the current membership. The current rate of dues, in effect as of 8/30/2021 is $10 Middle School membership, $25 Student membership, and $50 Family membership.

Item 8: Meetings

Meetings shall be held monthly during the course of the school year. Meetings shall be held either at RHAM Middle School or RHAM High School.

Item 9: Voting

All members and members-at-large present shall receive one vote on any voting issue or election. Passage of an issue or election shall be by a simple majority vote of those members present at the meeting. In the event a meeting can not be held on an issue, then an online vote or majority vote of board members will suffice.

Item 10: Amendments

Amendments to these Bylaws shall be made based on a simple majority vote of the membership present at the meeting. The membership must be given one (1) week’s notice of intention to amend these Bylaws.

These Bylaws shall be reviewed and revised periodically.
